Casey, stop getting all bitter about VR. You are leaving, why exactly does this put your nose so out of shape?

Yeah, he's had to eat a lot of his words, and yes, people do forgive him for it. Ever stopped to think WHY that is?

Agree with Pagik.. For such a young man, with an outstanding history of performance e success, Stoner seems incapable of overcoming past criticism and gossip. A champion behaving like an angry kid.. He should spend more time with grown-ups like Hayden...

I agree with you both, just because some of what he says is right, it doesn't mean that he should say it to the press after proclaiming that he hates the media.

I honestly think Stoner feels he has to constantly prove himself, which is why the media comments about him being on the best bikes at their time and his illness has got to him and now he is retiring.

I hope Stoner realises that personal attacks such as these will harm him more than Rossi. Nothing he can possibly say will alter Rossi's achievements one bit, but it will certainly diminish his legacy, thin as it may be already.

Why is anyone surprised? Stoner was always a spoiled little whiner no matter how good a rider he is, and this is exactly the sort of thing you expect to hear from him. Next season we'll be shot of him and the grown ups will be riding instead.

..its a pity if you read the complete interview...that its actually all true...no Italian fluff & PR speak...but if thats what you like..dont change the VR46 channel !!
15/08/2012 at 15:29
It is such a shame that someone (Stoner) with all that talent has all the character of an arsehole when he opens his mouth.
15/08/2012 at 15:46
No one's denying that it's true Nick. For sure it is, but the point being made here is that after Casey's VERY public announcement of his hatred for the Moto GP circus to then turn around and start throwing stones like this after all he's said, in my opinion, just makes him look silly.

As for the Italian fluff and PR speak, remind me again of just how many Italians CS took with him to HRC? And I'm just wondering how many times he kept his mouth shut about how awful that Desmocidici was to ride?

I'm not really a rossi fan but this just seems absolute nonsense to me.

As Pagik and others mentioned in another post, the type of tyres being developed, the rules in place in MotoGP, the bike cc all have a massive effect on whether a bike can perform well with the way it's been developed.

I wonder if Stoner could win on the Ducati now with the current rules and setup of MotoGP?

So does Hayden not try? Did the previous failures on Ducatis not try? Wow, I guess that makes Stoner a real hero... Or at least he's desperate for people to think that.

Also, if he thought the Ducati was a winning machine why did HE ditch them for Honda???!!!!

I can't wait until he just fucks off. He's won twice and the little cry baby thinks of himself as a legend.

Rossi replied on Twitter "Always very nice my friend Casey ha ha ha"
15/08/2012 at 16:41
I don't think it's actually got anything to do with CS being a whinger, or a cry baby, or any of the other things we (including me) chucks at him.

I think he's just a polar opposite of VR. Casey just wants to race bikes, fair enough, he's a bike racer. But, there's more that goes along with it all now.
15/08/2012 at 16:43
I think it all comes down to the fact he has a girl's name.
15/08/2012 at 16:45
Jeez I'll be glad to see the back of Stacey Moaner!
If he's not having a whinge about race marshalls or making excuses as to why he fell off, he's slagging off other riders!
Doesn't matter how factual his statement is, it's just plain disrespectful - even 'You're Gay' Lorenzo has taken his head out of his arse and now gives grown up interviews which are respectful of his fellow riders!
Just retire gracefully instead of having everyone remember you as a moaning bitch!!
15/08/2012 at 16:50
I dont think Stoner is just in it for the racing or he wouldnt say these things, he is a dick but still wants everyone to love him like they love Rossi and he is sooo bitter that no-one does.
15/08/2012 at 17:04
I think it is laughable that people continue to print his statements. In all fairness though, I guess I might be the same way if I spent the majority of my time in GP getting Bitch slapped on the track by Rossi! His bitterness is so strong, he is not mature enough to handle it. There can only be one person crossing the finish line first and its usually not someone else's fault. Unfortunately, GP will be better without him. Its a shame though because he truly can ride a bike like no one else.

Being quite young i've never seen MotoGP where Rossi has actually been any good.

Heard equal amounts of moaning off all the riders.

My Dad likes Rossi but he also likes soap operas and other stuff from the past.

Are you guys not proud that Stoner came to Britain and raced and developed up to where he is ?

I think it says a lot about how good British bike racing is.

I cant wait until Redding, Webb, Espargaro, Iannone, Marquez, Bradl are battling it out in GP.

I don't like Hector Barberas eyebrows.
15/08/2012 at 17:23
I'd keep your opinions to yourself and go and ask your dad why VR is rated as among the greatest motorcycle racers the world ever saw. Ya cheeky little scamp.

I suppose two bad seasons out of what... 17 isn't so bad now is it? Perhaps Casey will get to that point.. Aha, no he wont, anyway I digress.

Kev, I suppose that might be missed a little with your age, but to fill you in, Lets compare Rossi/Stoner on their first 6 years in the premier class. Rossi had 2nd, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st. Casey had 8th, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 4th, 1st.

Looking at those stats, that's why people regard Vale as being a bit special. Now being fair, history 'might' have been different had Casey hopped straight on a Honda, but he didn't.

Pagik hits it on the head with this;

Pagik - "No one's denying that it's true Nick. For sure it is, but the point being made here is that after Casey's VERY public announcement of his hatred for the Moto GP circus to then turn around and start throwing stones like this after all he's said, in my opinion, just makes him look silly."

Casey continually comes across as someone who tries to use the media when it suites, but more often than not, makes a total arse of it.

Nearly all of his public shots have been at Valentino, nearly all of them. I think Valentino, without even trying, winds Casey up, and I think it's also part of the reason he's retiring.

I think he hates the fact that, despite failing miserably at Ducati, no one really laughed, no one said Valentino is crap, no one started worshiping Casey as the great Rossi slayer, nothing. The world just carried on, they watched the failure, but everyone wanted it to turn around. And while all this dominated the headlines, Casey went around and won a world title, which was a small side-story to the ongoing Ducati/Valentino issues.

To add insult to injury, Valentino, running around in 6th place, slagging the bike that Casey won on, got paid a ton more than Casey did for winning the championship.

I think a lot of the issues Casey has are self made, and quite a few are over spilt milk.

I'll miss the way he rides a bike, it's absolutely spectacular, he basically puts it into a position where most riders consider it 'crashed', he then rides it out of that state time after time after time. His riding is something special and I will miss it, but I won't miss the guy, I would dearly like him to seem to give some sort of a s**t about the fanbase that help keep the championship going, the fans that pay £75+ at the gates to watch the races, the fans that buy bikes, clothing and other bits. It'd be nice, if perhaps he could just say hi to some of the guys that visit him, but apparently it's too much. That's the side of Casey I honestly wont miss, and if his personality has been misinterpreted, then I'm sorry, because pretty much the media world-over, must have got this guy wrong...

Stoner is right about the 80 seconds quote.

Burgess and Rossi have had at least twice that, maybe even more, ;-) and they still couldn't get the Ducati onto THE PODIUM in the dry.

Casey was winning on the bike in 2010, Rossi/Burgess took the same bike and couldn't get a 3rd in the dry. Every time Rossi goes out on the Ducati he makes Stoner look better and better.

Give a man fire and he's warm for a day,
Set him on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life
