"The ZX-10R is becoming a serious racing contender, with Tom Sykes proving the bikes potential on the World stage winning at Monza on the weekend and clocking the fastest ever top speed."

... but not the ZX-10R that you will get and certainly not without many thousands of additional hours parts, work and effort.

I'd agree, I love the ZX-10, but if you're looking at a road bike or track bike, looking at whats doing well in superstock can be a better indication.

However, that is assuming any of us normal lot can get within 75% of what one of those bikes can actually do.

In which case, you might as well pick the one with the best offer/the one you like the look of!

Which bike won Superstock 1000 at Oulton Park last weekend.

This is not to be sneezed at. Fast street bikes make fast superbikes. That the Aprilia, BMW and Kawasaki are regularly topping the speed sheets says a great deal about their base product.

No criticism of the KWACKER... it's the marketing tactic that riles me.It is simply not the same bike that you will get when you buy it.

It's like comparing your Ford focus to a full blown rally machine. Same basic look and badge, but 90% replaced and reworked.

I don't think a ZX10R is the equivalent of a Ford Focus. At the World Superbikes recently I spoke to one of the Australian Superbike BMW riders. The only mods to his S1000RR engine was a full Akrapovic exhaust and an electronic fuel module thingy. And he was running up front.

*technically an exhaust is not an engine mod, but you get my drift...
