What happened to the people who where owed money for their bikes by George White? Mr Copes tweet to Potter makes more sense now ;-)

Smells fishy to me. Isn't there some law that prevents Directors of a bankrupt business starting up again?

I hope all Mr Gannicott's previous suppliers have all been paid. He may find stock difficult to come by, once the ex GW stuff has been sold, if not.

its not right some poor sods llost out big time we seen it all before wit carnell and motor cycle city lol

NickyD it is common practice in the Motor Industry, people that suffer are suppliers

bornagain65 Yeah, as if Rukka and Dainese are going to suffer... their gear costs about the same as a shop, doesn't it? :D

I agree the whole GW situation was and is a mess but on a positive note they did sell some great value bikes and clothes. Its such a shame that they could'nt get thier business practice right. I for one would not have got into biking and had the opportunity to buy a brand new bike and get kitted out if I bought from elsewhere cause its just too expensive, rumour has it down here in Devon that the previous owner of the plymouth site will re-open sometime not sure how true that would be but would be great for plymouth having a substantial biking outlet down here again loads of bikers in this neck of the woods.

Not a fan of George White myself, i've always used Fowlers Motorcycles, There prices are genrally as good, Staff are helpful and returning items has never been a issue. I honestly believed when this happend Fowlers would buy them out, guess not.

get your clothing from Fowlers :)

Thanks will try them where are they based?

Temple meads in Bristol. I can't hot link them here but google is your friend..

Also their customer services dept is absolutely superb, I've never experienced such a professional service anywhere, in all my years as a hairy biker noone has surpassed them.

Enjoy!

This is great news and is making me hard and nervous

Anyone on here heading down tomorrow? I'm not gonna be bidding on a bike but want to get some gear.
Reckon it's going to be particularly busy?

I agree with NickyD, smells a bit fishy. Looks like an out of the box website, on the 'contact us' webpage, it only has a mobile number. Isn't it a legal requirement in the UK to have company registration details (and VAT number if registered) on the website? None present here. What is the name of this company? Companies house webcheck has the only 'mega motorcycles' listed as being dissolved (no mega motoorcycle store). There isn't even a proper email contact address! Will be interested to see what peoples experience will be with purchase/delivery. If it was a relaunch, why were there no press releases to the likes of MCN?Proceed with caution.

The auction today was a complete mess, no info sheets, no detail on how much you pay or deposit, the guy doing the auction got a couple of model names wrong, only people buying were a few dodgy looking dealer types, wink, wink... their sale of new bikes a disaster (only sold one or two), too high reserves, wrong lot numbers, some bikes mentioned that didn't exist and one other wasn't mentioned.

The clothing store had a queue of 100-200 people waiting to pay!

Glad to see that they will be selling cheap moto clothes, at least.

Blade have opened a new HOnda dealership just down the road but their retail prices will make you weep!

Wake up everyone who believes its s shame that this shower went out of business. All they did was sell at cost and try to live for the manufacturer bonus, but obviously they were courting collapse at every turn - business suicide. And in doing so, they were forcing legitimate longstanding, knowledgeable, local dealers out of business. This way we all lose. Where you going to take your bike when the proper dealers don't exist anymore? And lets not get carried away about high pricing; this is set by the manufacturer due to rising material costs and the crap exchange rates - the dealers themselves get a relatively small percentage off the full retail price - which is something they rarely achieve; and more so due to numpty outfits such as George White. To add insult to injury the purchasers of the bikes then proceed to take them to the genuine local dealer to sort out the warranty work! It's always good to get a good deal on a new bike, but do remember that without a local dealer network, future servicing and repair may cost much more in time effort and piece of mind than the few hundred quid you saved at the outset.

In defence of GW it was a profitable going concern for many years before the recession, exchange rates and greedy manufacutures etc which has laid waste to many businesses at the moment. Local knowledgeable dealers are invaluable and if you buy a bike at GW and get in serviced elsewhere at least you are spreading your money around if no one bought bikes cheap of otherwise the whole chain of servicing and accessories will get smaller. We need more bikes on the road and it needs to be easier and cheaper to do so.
