I have always had the impression you know, that he has his wife and all that and she's probably thinking, we're loaded, why are you risking your life? The yoko ono of GP. That is a rumour going around, and I started that rumour.

Fair play to him, kids make you re-prioritise so why not. He doesn't need to money and imho should be focussing on his new family. I'd rather spend more time with my lot than have to go to work, although each to their own.

Id love to watch him race into his 30's, love his riding style. but if i had the chance to retire in my mid 20's then i would.

he's done it all, pretty much. he'd have far more fun on a dirtbike at his homestead now, racing his mates, and watching his kids grow up.

fazyluckers - creative procrastination & general generalishness

imagine being so privileged as to be able to do something like motogp and not appreciating it.

hes unprofessional in some of his remarks, hes definitively unprofessional when hes hitting people on track

adios Stoner, you're bloody fast but the nick name moaner definitely fits

anyway, CS is the my fav rider. i have the same feeling to if i had a wife and baby girl. Its good for the daughter to grow up with both mom and dad on sight everyday. you got my back CS. You already prove youself in motoGP/

So everyone's finally sick of the whole VR and Ducati thing, so we need another rumour I'm guessing...

Somebody bounce the slut.

I can't blame him wanting to retire. Look at the injuries and fatalities in the top flight motorbike sports. In the last 12 months alone 2 riders have lost fingers, 1 rider has died, 1 is in critical condition (get well soon Juan), several are riding/have ridden with broken limbs...

The guy has millions of dollars, a beautiful wife, a new kid... That seriously affects your motivation. It's not like he doesn't push, it's not like he is in a sport where you can play safe and pick up a pay check.

He could retire from racing and still get to play with bikes for the rest of his life, and get paid for it, and not have any of the risks. He is unlikely to equal Rossis 7 top flight championships, but he will always be the most successful rider in the 800CC era...

All of us sat at our keyboards look at his life and think it must be amazing, but you have to temper it with all the downsides, and with a young child etc, the number of downsides, and the stakes of the game have just gone up.

Who could blame Casey from making this decision? He's been racing motorcycles away from home for many years and at twenty six years old probably only has another four years left for MotoGP. And now, with a brand new baby, of course he's looked at his life and found something he wants more than bike racing.
It's clear he has amazing talent and it will be a loss to MotoGP if he leaves, but there will always be someone waiting to take his place.

I dont get why someone would CHOOSE to have a kid at 26. 26 isn't that young but I'm 28 and not ready to have a kid ferchrissakes and wont be ready til I'm in my 30s! As are most people but anyway. I guess he hasn't heard of birth control, or rather Adriana hasnt.

Stoner has another 5 yrs perhaps where he could win the championship and another 5 after that where he'll still be in demand by factory teams, or definitely satellite teams and he'll be pulling a salary of at least £1mil/year.

Stoner's a cracking racer but a rather strange lad: he apparently never had a gf before Adriana, got married to the first girl he found which is her, at age 23, and a kid at 26. This guy is like a motorcycling antisocial nerd, if such a thing is possible!

As for bashing fairings, Rossi's been doing more of that than anybody eh? Lets not pretend that Rossi isnt the Schumacher of MotoGP when it comes to punting ppl off the track cos he is. AMAZING racer but nonetheless is a guy that like Senna believes in going for the ever-closing gap even if its dangerous

@BlackPrince... im 25 and married to the first girl i went out with and if money wasn't such an issue we would have a kid tomorrow... i like to think of myself as being mature, responsible and level headed rather than a "motorcycling antisocial nerd" thanks.

hate the frekin weirdo, the sooner he is gone the better, patronising, unsportsmanlike and a discredit to the sport, shame that he is also good.

He gave an interview with Australian MCN saying this much and more a few months ago. In short, he sees the world of GP racing as a bit of a wank. No, he doesn't want to sit back and count his millions but looks forward to having a "real life" (his words) where you have to get up early and work hard. I was edified by his outlook.

Great to hear mobus. There can often never seem to be enough money to get married or have children. But from what I've experienced, it's often the struggle that makes for strong and close-knit families. All the best mate.
04/05/2012 at 03:02
@mobus - not married yet @ 28 due to financial commitments but been with the same girl for 6 yrs, my 1st real gf, so I suppose i was really just picking on CS.

And at 25 you'd have a child finances notwithstanding?? Wow okay. I love kids more than anything but bikes and my gf but I feel like I want my 'own' time before having them and irrevocably changing my life (like owning a 2 seat sportscar w/o having to feel guilty about it).

Anyway, best of luck with the wedding plans whenever they do happen

I suppose I just find Stoner's whole personality to be a bit weird and a bit antisocial, rather than simply the fact that he married young. I mean who goes out and hunts by THEMSELVES for days with a crossbow??? Im sure there's ppl that do it but I doubt many of them are under 30! Dont get me wrong I like Stoner a lot and I'm really happy he's in MGP given his colourful personality - not colourful in the same way as V Rossi's obviously but in that he's almost acted as a foil for Rossi for the last few years (Laguna 08, "ambition outweighed your talent" etc), I jst find him a bit odd in a way and a bit aloof

You're never truly ready to have kids, and you always spend what you earn in my experience ;)

I had my lad at 28, and it's the best thing I ever did. We appear to suffer from arrested development in the west, where we're encouraged to be self indulgent and stretch out our childhood into our 30's.

I don't necessarily think CS is strange for wanting a child so young, with his earnings etc why would you not want to do that and spend the best years of your kids growing up when you have the energy to really appreciate it. With a career arc spanning just over 15 years I guess you end up with a slightly skewed point of when "ready" is.

HA!

Of course he says its all nonsense. As if he wouldn't. But I really dont think it is actually. Casey is a good honest family man, you can see it. He's made it quite clear he has little interest in not riding pure prototype bikes, and that is what is coming. Of course not sure he will go, but it wouldnt surprise me.

Er....who's Caset Stoner? Is he someone we should know about? or care about?
