Stay with Ducati for two more years and win the championship by 2014, Also do a few guest races in WSB and win them by miles, preferably lap the whole field inc Biagi haha. Finally go to F1 (even though WRC is more fun plus until Seb Loeb retires no-one inc Rossi would stand a chance anyway) and win that too within a further 2 years which should be easy enough, it's all about who has the best machinary in F1 and Rossi has already demonstarted his talent in an F1 car

as much as id like to see rossi win on a duke..

lets be real

the bike isnt improving quick enough...

honda bring a frame... ducati bring nothing

honda bring a new bike... ducati bring a couple of odds and sods

he needs to get out go to honda for 2 years ..win the championships on the bounce ..people will soon forget the ducati incident, hell have more wins and more chamionships than anyone else whos to say hes not the GOAT?

and then

go to cars and win some rally races

Stay with Ducati through 2014. Audi has the money and the desire to win. After that go and have some fun with cars, gocarts, lawn mowers and NASCAR.

Debut the Ducati Panigale in WSB - and have some fun, winning races and /or championships would be a bonus!

For me, it depends what measn more to him:
The desire to just win - go back to Yamaha.
Or the desire to work back to winning - stay with Ducati.

I wish he had never left Yamaha, but now I hope he stays at Ducati.

Walk from the fucking lot go and count my millions and millions of euro's whilst on my big boat of the Adriatic Coast with my gorgeous new lady and laugh like a fucking drain every time I thought about those belligerent twerps in Bologna.

But, to humour this thread and stoke the fires. Walk from Ducati. As Ken's said above, they are Biblically good at keeping people hanging. Even a 9 time world champion.

Honda have brought an entire new bike forwards by nearly a season. Ducati have ignored the MASSIVE elephant in the room and tried to placate the situation with some odds and sods. So, If I was VR, I'd be telling them to go fuck themselves. Preferrably at Misano, for maximum effect. Get the deal sorted with an M1, win 1 more title, then call it a day. Then, refer to my first paragraph.

Say goodbye to MotoGP. He just does not look like he is enjoying what he is doing there. And even fitness wise, the upcoming youth have more of an edge and less concerns about injury.

Say hello to WSBK. Bash fairings with Melandri and Biaggi again. Maybe even Nicky will be in the mix too. And potentially win a races and championships again. Let the joy and passion of racing return.

Never admit I was wrong moving to Ducati. It was a dream come true and Yamaha's priorities were already shifting to newer riders. There are no openings on factory teams and few races, let alone championships, are won off factory bikes.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Staying and doing nothing would be insanity now.

In all fairness, the only reason he looks like he's not enjoying Moto GP is because he's plodding round in 5th to 7th place every round. If I'd one 9 world titles, that would annoy the piss outta me too!!

Also, why not admit it was a bad move? It BLATANTLY was and after the first test at Valencia he said they weren't paying Stoner enough money.

I've had five mins to actually think about this. I'd keep Ducati hanging right until the end of the season, but be speaking to HRC on the REAL quiet. If parts and performance improves on the Duke, stay if it doesn't walk.

He should stay with Ducati as they are testing a new paintjob this weekend... but it won't be ready until 2017.

As much as I want Rossi to win on the Ducati, I really don't think it is going to happen otherwise it would have already. It's not as if Audi have the magic recipe for a decent bike. Ducati used to partner with Mercedes AMG, surely if a car company could help they would have been able to.

If I were him, I'd go back to Honda. Win the title, mentor Marquez, then bugger off with my millions and a horde of women.

i would discuss the both option as me a fan and if i am rossi....

as a fan i want rossi to go to yamaha fight with lorenzo marquez and pedrosa and entertain us... BUT......

if am rossi i would first consult with ducati and their new owner Audi to assure me are they willing to invest huge amounts on development and make it Fast. i would do 3-4 seasons with Ducati and develop that bike with full dedication and try to win a championship with it and be a rider to win championship on three factory bikes prove everything to everyone be a GOAT.[ Rossi is already GOAT but still] Ducati is piece of crap ryt now but so was the M1 when rossi jumped on it. Ducati can also be fast the thing is its already fast but handling is problem in straights ducati do top speeds better than yamaha honda but handling it is problem. going to yamaha will do no good on yamaha rossi already proved everything. + going to yamaha will give critics chance that rossi can't ride ducati so BE WITH DUCATI FOCUSED AGGRESSIVE AND DEDICATED.

after that it can be WSBK or rally anything.

@Szmolo, the Ducati/AMG partnership was purely at the marketing level. There was no exchange of technical info.

Give a man fire and he's warm for a day,
Set him on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life

With all his money has he still got the enthusiasm to win on any bike ? from being at the top there is only one way to go and thats down, I would love to see him in the mix at the top instead of 6th - 7th place which is irritating.

Should he retire before he drops further down the ranks ? as riding the Ducati has not paid off for him or his ratings, I think most people was expecting a few races and a few adjustments and he would be inching his way upwards it hasn't happened and I can't see it happening, I would love him to win a GP and then bow out gracefully.

Go to Yamaha ofcourse and have a chance to win everything once again...So go for glory instead of money.

Some food for thought in the comments above. I don't know VR so I don't know if he has the will to succeed with Ducati. No real point in going backwards to Honda or Yamaha unless he desperately wants to win another title, who knows. It would be worth having a chat to Jerry Burgess and find out what he thinks. I also can't see VR having CS as the only rider able to win a title on a Ducati. VR is Italian and you can be sure he is well proud of it and walking from the Ducati heritage won't sit well. Tom P

As VR, I would give Audi an option - put me in an R18 E-Tron Quattro next season or I retire from motorsports.

As a fan, I would recommend to VR that he do the above.

VR has given enough to motorcycle racing and I appreciate what he has accomplished.

Follow my passion as my money is already made: If i wanted to move to Cars, stick with Ducati now but negotiate a transfer to Audi Car racing. If I remain with bikes, go to WSB on Ducati, take a title for the fame, and then move to Audi still. Like F1, MotoGP is getting raped slowly by money and CRT idiots (hail Casey), the future is of passionate bike racing is WSB. I would not need the money of MotoGP anymore, so would go to WSB or car racing. Passion and fun be my ride. Returning to seek old glory at Yamaha or Honda is never wise.
Ducate core issue is too many italians running the place. Too much blabla, styling and poshy attitude. Getting the job done requires balls and signigficant steps, not a half ass approach to protect pride and honor and italian confetti.
26/07/2012 at 10:49
Rossi should blow our minds away doing something unheard of, e.g, go stunt-racing on Harleys or something of the sort...
26/07/2012 at 14:12
Amusing, but it's not really answering the question is it?
26/07/2012 at 21:46
Rossi should embrace the selfish temperamental little Italian within and grab the Honda on offer. Having Burgess butcher it and rebadgeing it Buk Korosu would be a good start.
Developing a proper drinking habit wouldn't do him or the ratings any harm. He could give back to the community by having a Milanese transvestite prostitute for a brolly girl (this can only help keep the attention off his sensitive tax situation). Learning how to throw a proper Latin tantrum when he feels like it and thumping Jorge Lorenzo whilst using Dani Pedrosa as a helmet stand (mouth ajar and no not that helmet MAG readers) would only enhance the dreary Q&A post qualifying. He's got to stop that pulling the plug out of his arse routine every time he gets on the bike. It makes him look like a uncouth gimp. As way of making the CRT's faster he should receive IRTA assistance in getting Randy de Puniet's girlfriend pregnant.
But the most singularly important thing he must do is get the fuck away from the corrupt self indulgence at all cost ethos that is an Italian motorcycle company.
