1. Full Akrapovic system

The standard exhaust might keep the Eurocrats happy but it stifles what you know should be one of the soundtracks of 2013. This stainless steel exhaust system features a Titanium-coated silencer and is road legal, which means it could probably be made louder still, if that's your thing. Road legal would suit me fine; the MT-09 needs a bit more bark to back up the bite.

2. Comfort Design Seat

The MT-09's standard seat isn't uncomfortable but you probably won't want to spend much longer sat on it than the 14.3-litre tank's 150-mile range will allow. This comfort option costs £199.99 and should ensure you keep your eyes on the road and not hunting for the next lay-by.

Price: £199.99

3. Engine Protectors

While any spill usually results in an expensive bill for battered tanks, stone-chipped frames and shattered plastics, these plastic engine-casing protectors, with aluminium sliders should lower the chances of a tiny spill or drop resulting in a holed engine casing and the premature end of a trip.  You might want to consider the raditors guards too.
