As any superbike racer will tell you, making enough power is no longer the problem - with too much of it at their disposal, the problem now is harnessing it. To this end road bike technology has leapt ahead in 2009 to yield two of the most awesome new sportsbikes in years, the new crossplane-cranked R1 and the Ducati 1198, complete with adjustable traction control.

Read the full test and expert analysis of the technology in the May issue of Two Wheels Only, out on the 27th of March.

John..

A mate of mine picks his 1198 up this weekend.

I'll be hoping my 09 R1 has the advantage on the road.
