Ducati 1199 Panigale vs. Porsche 911 GT2 RS

We pitch superbike against supercar. Who comes out on top?

It's the ultimate motor-geek's pub debate: what's quicker, a superbike or a supercar? We attempted to answer this by pitching the incredibly quick Porsche 911 GT2 RS, against the mighty-rapid Ducati 1199 S Tricolore. Both as it happens, are about to be firmly wedged in the bosom of the Volkswagen Group. You could call this the people's test.

The car makes a beefy 611bhp, the bike puts out 195bhp at the crank.

It was always going to be close. We thought we'd solve the debate, but we've probably asked more questions than given answers. Sorry about that.

Enjoy.

Very good.
With SuperBike we took a load of 1000's to a strip and played, all the way back in the 80's. We learnt the same thing, weight very forward, tuck right in, and just drive away in first, then pin it.
I'm going to check the times we did and see if I can make you laugh :)

Interesting. I'd like to see some other bikes do this too. Like Mark said at the start of this thread you need to be right over the front. Also i think the Panigale is way too powerful. I think a CBR600 or 954 FireBlade would cream the Porsche to the quarter mile lights. The Car driver was right in saying he would catch up after 150mph but most car drivers have bottled it by then(And rightly so)The only car that has even got close to me in a play about was an Audi RS6 and he gave up at 155 because of his limiter.
Good stuff though Ben. What about a run to the Autobahns for flat out runs. And if you go on track use the 848, something you are used too. Also do timed laps, 1 vehicle at a time as having a snarling car on your arse is off putting or trying to get past a car without getting punted into the Armco is enough to slow anybody.
