Ridden: The Adventure Rider Centre Spain

We check out Spain's upmarket off-road riding experience

The Adventure Rider Center is based out of a plush private villa nestled on the side of the Andalucian mountains. It overlooks the typically picturesque Spainish town of Mijas and is 20 minutes from Malaga airport. There you’ll find Barry and Karen a naturally happy dream-team and owners of The Adventure Rider Center.

It was Barry and Karen's dream that saw them leave the UK and set up the centre. They wanted to create the best trail riding experience with the best gear available for riders to enjoy all year round.

It’s certainly true that Spain offers some of the most diverse riding terrain per square mile than anywhere else in the world, and with an average of 300 sunny days a year you’d be hard pushed to find a better location to be riding dirt bikes .

Everything about The Adventure Rider Centre stands for quality. They supply you with Klim, Alpinestars and Forcefield riding gear which looks like it’s never been worn, and you can choose to ride any of Husabergs range of enduro winning bikes from the 250 and 300 two strokes to the 250, 350, 450 and 501 four strokes.

From the moment we arrived at the airport we were looked after, the setup here is as efficient as you could wish for. Karen and Barry will pick you up and drop you off on time, they will ensure that you’re wearing the right fitting gear as if you bought it yourself and they’ll help you get comfortable with the bikes as fast as possible.

When it comes to the riding you’ll spend an entire day riding bikes for as many days as you wish. During our trip we rode fast sweeping mountain switchbacks, technical descents some verging on the edge of extreme, we traversed mountains, plough through rivers and tackled dense forests.

There are a few handpicked accommodation options to choose from all of which are 4* Hotels ranging from the Hotel Mijas to the Reserva del Higueron designer hotel all of which rank well in TripAdvisor. We stayed in the Hotel Mijas which with its pool, WiFi and huge buffet breakfast was more than comfortable.

The evenings here are about good food and relaxation which attracts the discerning riders who appreciate what The Adventure Rider Centre is all about.

In a nut shell if you’re after a long or short trail riding holiday which is quality from start to finish then the Adventure Rider Centre is the place for you.
