Just spent a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon watching the video and wishing that more of our top sports people were as non-PC as Sheene and Hunt - theit lives were certainly lived! Real characters who commanded attention, not just for their riding and driving skill - sponsorship seems to inhibit this kind of winner now.

Maybe when we look back, that will be the difference between, say, Rossi and Stoner. Both top performers, but one of them just has the whole package because it's not just what they do on race day, it's their whole presence.

Melandri certainly had it aswell, he said what he thought and rode like he wanted to get to the front. All these guys are unique - and the ones that don't retire gracefully are missed all the more.

Toseland could do with a bit of this spirit - we should just enjoy it because they're want to win and have a good time doing it.

When I was about 8 my mum took me to see Barry Sheene when he was doing a book signing at WH Smith in Reading, he spoke to us for about ten minutes, what a brilliant bloke, I can't see Rossi being allowed to do that now!

We all look back at the 'golden years' saying things were better then, is it nostalgia, hell no it's fact and that documentary proves it!
