The above photo of Valentino Rossi sliding in the recent test at Sepang gave hope that the MotoGP hero was finally getting to grips with the troublesome Ducati Desmosedici.

However, the picture of Rossi performing his usual masterful feats brought a hint of skeptism from armchair experts, who blurted that the slide was actually faked in Photoshop. In defence of the shot Gigi Soldano - Rossi's personal and renowned GP photographer - released a sequence of the slide captured by his camera.

If this an authentic set of pics, (and I am convinced it is) this is good thing! We're seeing the real Rossi: making the bike dance a jig and singing Italian opera. GAWD! I can't WAIT for the season to start!

This is no fake. Look for pics of Simmo in pre-season testing last year and again of Stoner in practice for the race.

It's great to see Rossi cranked over, crossed up yet hooked up and firing out.

But he's still way off the pace...
