Rookie of the Year: Crutchlow vs. Abraham

Only one point separates the two rookies ahead of the final round at Valencia

The MotoGP championship is all settled with Casey Stoner lifting the title, but there is still an underlining honour yet to be decided at Valencia; the Rookie of the Year between Cal Crutchlow and Karel Abraham (and Moto2 and 125 - but they seem to be safely in the respective hands of Bradl and Terol).

Coming into the final race this weekend, Crutchlow leads Abraham by one point in the championship.

Both riders have common knowledge of the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, the Briton having raced there in his World Superbike and Supersport years whereas Abraham scored his only Grand Prix victory at Valencia in his final Moto2 race last season.

The two are very different, one transferred across from hard-knocks of superbike racing and the other after years learning in the intermediate class.

However, both have had comparably mercurial debut seasons with the two riders each having the high from a best finish of seventh and the down of missng a race - Crutchlow at Silverstone and Abraham at Motegi - along with a collection of top 10s and DNFs apiece.

So, who gets your vote?

I think it's gotta go to Cal. Karel has put a GREAT season together, considering EVERYONE wrote him off (me included) as a rich kid with no business.

I think Karel has done REALLY well. But, I think Cal will shade this one.

Cal for me, just but this season has been so poor with so few riders that it's hardly a contest of who has done best but who has finished most.

If I had wobbled round at the back of this lot coming last every race I would have got 29 world championship points just for finishing. not good enough DORNA!!!!

Karel for me, don't forget he is riding a Ducati which is much harder to be successful with than the Tech3 Yamaha that is probably the strongest satellite bike.
I think they both did great (and had to overcome a lot of bad luck), but Karel imressed me more.

Karel Abraham

He has been riding an uncompetitive Ducati GP10 and doing great!
Also, no one considered at the beginning of the season that he would do that good.
So, cheers to Karel!

Cal is an awesome rider as well! :-)

Cal has done pretty much what i think everyone expected. But Abraham who i think almost everyone said was going to robble round and be abit of a joke has done really well. So its a very close call.

still hope cal gets it though :)
