Ninja 250 Turbo

Is 250cc all you need?

You might think it pointless to modify a little two-fifty four-stroke, but I think it sounds like fun.

This Ninja 250 features a Garrett GT12 turbo hidden inside that fairing. The stock bike makes around 25bhp at the rear wheel and this turbo version made an easy 40bhp on the first run. With a few mods and changes to the throttle bodies and fuel injection system, power was increased to 58bhp.

Fit some decent tyres, upgrade those brakes and you'll surprise a few people with your ability to keep up on your '250'...

I like it. Sneaky shit like this always makes me smile.

No don't just get a SV, this is genius. If you have ever ridden a 250 two stroke or a 400 online four from the mid 90's you understand 60bhp in a 130kg frame with small dimensions is never a. "Get an SV" ffs

Nice. I agree with Xenophya, its a modern RD350 powervalve. :)

I like it but it's a shame that it can't really be called a sleeper coz most motorist in the UK wouldn't be able to differentiate a Ninja 250 from a true sports bike and probably wouldn't be all that surprised to see one moving at speed.

I love it, would be a shock to see a little 250 coming down the road with a turbo spooling up!

Love it ! I wonder how long the clutch/gearbox/etc will last.... but what a laugh in the meantime !

@ Xenophya

Its a Four Stroke 250. Its pointless.

An SV is faster and more fun to ride - Oh and Cheap.

Anything less than 400CC should be 2 Stroke - Give me a 2 Stroke 250/350 and send me on a track, I'll beat down GSXR750's like I beat down the fly on my wall this morning.

You've put the wrong turbo on it. You would get more out of it had you used the GT06 series since the required HP to turn it in the first place is lacking in the EX250R. The bike only produces a little less than 40HP in the first place, so you're actually wasting a lot of power trying to spool it up.
Mind you, the maximum efficiency of the turbo itself is about 59% for the GT06 to 63% for the GT12, but you could have done a much better job had you used the smaller turbo.

Yep; many of the "kits" made available don't even spool until you're practically redlining - but it gives a kind of surrogate for that two-stroke zing, so I guess it's fun of a sort!
