Kawasaki Z1R.

New lease of life.

Never has a standard indicator looked so good.
That's a long old wheelbase. Can't imagine this flicks through Darley Moor's chicane too well. Love the matt paint though.

These two beautiful Z1R Kawasakis appeared at the annual Mooneyes Yokohama Custom show last weekend. With one sporting a street/strip look (spot the belly-scraping ride height and rigid rear struts) and the other undergoing a sort of modernisation, they both reminded me just how handsome and unique the original slab-sided Z1R was.

Judging by some of the other wild and weird exhibits I made a mental note to myself: must make sure I'm in Japan this time next year.

I had one of these way back in 1981, brilliant looking bike but a nightmare on the twisty stuff, all weaves over a ton..... still looks good now though, i wouldn't mind another one as a rideable classic.

My first love !!!     I purchased a 1978 Kawasaki Z1R from Hectors Kawasaki in Jamestown, New York.

It was $2800       The first thing I did was spoon up a set of metzlers and a 4-1 Kerker exhaust. K&N Superbike Bars and those Funky foam grips

O the memories      Thanks Visor Down !!!!!!

My Dream was the Z1R TC with the Black Molly Graphics

That is AWSOME !!!!    Z1R TC  I wanted that thing So Bad !!!

They were Beautifull !   But what a Slush Bucket the frame was !           In 1984 I purchased the GPZ 900 Ninja, that bike felt like it was on rails compared to the KZ chassis.

Now I ride a BMW S1000   but maybe it's time for a resto project
