Ducati sale by VW halted

Ducati to “remain inside VW group”

Ducati sale by VW halted

DUCATI’S sale by owner Volkswagen has reportedly been halted amid opposition from trade unions.

The sale was put on hold by VW after pressure from IG Metall, a metal workers union in Germany, the financial news site Bloomberg has reported.

Bruno Papignani, regional head of Italian trade union FIOM CIGL, told the site: “Ducati’s CEO told workers Friday that the VW supervisory board decided to halt the sale process.

"IG Metall sustained and helped Ducati workers in their request to remain inside the VW group."

News that Ducati owner Volkswagen was considering selling Ducati emerged in April.

Eicher Motors, the Indian firm that owns Royal Enfield, was last month reported to be poised to make a binding $1.8 billion-$2 billion bid to acquire the Italian marque.
