Dan Walsh...how you're used to seeing him

BADGER HAS been enjoying a bit of hibernation recently, but was awoken by the news that Dan Walsh is back in town. Yes, the Dan Walsh that keeps you buying BIKE magazine every month, or at least, any month he can get his copy in on time.

Having exhausted the world's supply of sex, drugs and sausage roll, Dan's back in good ol' Blighty pursuing his latest adventure, only this time it's not on a pannier-clad, globe-busting big trailie - far from it.

Apparently, Mr Walsh was spotted by one of Badger's moles at BMW's Off-Road school in Wales, on a measly L-plated 125. It seems the man that's circumnavigated the world on two wheels, worked as a courier and ridden more big bikes than you can shake a bottle of tequila at has, allegedly, no motorcycle licence.

How Dan might look in next month's BIKE

Sources say Mr Walsh, who brings a rogue element to an otherwise squeaky clean BIKE magazine, needs to pass his test asap. So look out for him wobbling around a car-park near you, with a fag in one hand and a bottle of Jack Daniels in the other.

Good luck passing your test Dan!

And why is it taking time now? Surely he should just do a Claudio, turn up, take test, collect pass, ride away?

Or is he actually rubbish?

Interesting bit of gossip, but I didn't think they did learner, i.e. CBT/DAS training at the BMW centre, just off-road skills. I've never seen any BMW road training with L plates, and I live just up the road.

but the fucking fucker can write, which is a great deal more than most of the fucking fuckers we get to see from articlebot.

When's he contribing here, or can't you afford him or is it that he won't lower himself?

Really.

Perhaps you ought to consider doing an article for Visordown, Editor? You're obviously a man with considerable writing talent.

OK Tim, fair point made nicely.

What is it they say about critics?

Ed's a 'fill-in-fav-critic-quote-here'

I do try & give not really particularly objective feedback to the articles-it's just I'd rather say that something was fair to good or better & keep mostly quiet about the ones that really miss. But a stab at Dan stylie was a bit too good too miss! Besides I do find it a little irksome clicking on something that proclaims itself to be an article when really it's a filler piece based on a smidgeon of gossip or news. Demeans the articles, IMO.

Nothing against Badger anyhow. Or you.

Incidentally is DW a bit of a Hunter Thompson* in real life?

BMW Road Training (i.e CBT, DAS) is based at the same place as the off road skills - they share a unit.

So what has happened to poor old Dan? I stopped reading Bike when he vanished from their pages. Would love to see him at his best again.

This guy is the finest writer on bikes we have ever had. By far. I'd say his writings are pearls before swine, given some of the responses here.

If he dies through drink, THEN you'll be sorry and say how you always liked him.
