Gorgeous 1997 Triumph Thunderbird 900 for sale
A really beautiful Triumph Thunderbird 900 for sale, in the best colours, Green and Silver.
Very reluctant sale but it has to go as I need the money(unemployed).
Full service history. Excellent mechanical condition. Recent professional deep clean. Loads of receipts for work done going back to when it was new, including the original receipt of sale.
Many extras-heated grips, Scotoiler, rear Hagon shock, chrome chainguard, chrome radiator ends and cover, chrome rear brake cylinder cover, loud and normal pipes (ie, you get two pairs!), clock, recent Motobatt AGM battery, centrestand, front mudguard extender, custom seat, alloy wheels, alloy grab rail, pannier rails, good tyres (Avon Azaros) and brake pads, MOT to March 2013. New forks fitted two years ago (only for cosmetic reasons-the lacquer had gone on the old ones)with gaiters to cover the stanchions to prevent pitting. I have had the stainless steel down pipes stripped and polished. Also fitted for cosmetic reasons-new chrome cylinder head cover, new speedo and tacho cluster (coz they look better with white faces) and other odds and sods.
These bikes are bullet proof-getting 250K out of one is not uncommon, feel and sound like a proper bike and really look the business. They have that gorgeous triple engine. I've commuted and toured on it-it has been my main transport for years. It handles well, and does around 52MPG.
They are now very much sought after and the early ones-pre 1998-are the ones to buy, as they were more solidly made than the later ones. And they are much better than the modern Bonnevilles and better made too.
The less good points-the neutral light, as always with these, goes off when the bike is warm. I have mended a tear in the east. There's the usual patina of use. Lacquer on the upper and lower fork yokes could be better-I have a replacement set if you want to buy them for £20. There is a bit of rot on the front mudguard at the fixing points but not a problem yet and I'll throw in a BRAND NEW front mudguard with the sale.
Prices are now rising on Thunderbirds, so grab a useable investment while there are still good ones left . This is sensibly priced but I am still open to reasonable offers. You would pay up to £4,500 for one of these from a shop.
Bike is in Sussex. Viewing welcome. Test rides with the full asking price in my hand.
